Mountain Culture Group is the digital property of the award-winning Kootenay Mountain Culture and Coast Mountain Culture magazines. The owners required regular uploads of unique, engaging content as well as repurposed material from past issues of the print publications. They also required improved engagement on their social media channels.
The first step was an audit of the site and the social media channels to understand what content and posts were performing well. Next came the creation of a social media management strategy, an editorial plan and an agenda. Templates were created to speed the process of content creation and photographers were enlisted for takeovers to bolster views, follows and likes. An editorial calendar ensured engaging content was created on time and shared via the appropriate channels.
Traffic to the Mountain Culture Group website has increased by 50 percent year over year and social media channel followers have jumped an average of 20 percent. Content has remained true to the integrity of the magazines and as such stories have been referred to by other media sources from the CBC to the Vancouver Province. The company is now branching out into online sales, contests and sponsorship thanks to the success of the content creation.
